Pixel Lincoln Guest Stars In Pixel Glory!

At Gen Con 2013, I had a chance to play a few games by Frank Alberts a/k/a Zafty Games. Frank worked for Game Salute during the Pixel Lincoln Kickstarter fulfillment and was a big help in communicating to the backers in the last stages of the process.

One of the games I played was Pixel Glory, his deckbuilding via auction (auction-building!) retro-sytled card game. Each player is a little magey-looking wizard, building up spells to eventually face and hopefully defeat the enemies. I say "hopefully defeat" because each player will deal damage, but only the player that destroys the enemy gets the points.

We had a lot of fun with Pixel Glory there and more fun since. It's a neat game with two distinctly different phases, that depend very much on each other. The art style is cool and minimal, and Frank is a guy who has been on the backend of many other campaigns, so he knows what running a Kickstarter can be about. His game Snafu also just wrapped on Kickstarter and did very well.

So how does Pixel Lincoln fit into this? Well Frank asked if he could be a high level enemy and we said "of course!". Pixel Lincoln is armed his Chicken Cannon and gives all players extra cards and combo points, but also gives the player who defeats him a whopping 4 fame points. When you see Pixel Lincoln, you will want to take him out.

The card is exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign, so don't wait for retail.

Check out Pixel Glory on Kickstarter! There's an RPGMaker style video which is a really cool touch, and a detailed Critical Plays video from Crits Happen.
